Timor’s foreign troops blamed

The head of Australia’s forces in East Timor, Brigadier James Baker, says there was nothing his troops could have done to prevent Monday’s assassination attempts on the country’s top two leaders. East Timor’s army chief, Taur Matan Ruak, accused the international security forces in his country yesterday of failing to prevent the attacks, and called for an international investigation to determine the full facts.

Mr Gusmao’s Australian-born wife, Kirsty Sword Gusmao, told last night how their home was surrounded by armed men just minutes before her husband was attacked by armed rebels. She told ABC TV that during the time between when Dr Ramos Horta was shot and her husband’s convoy was ambushed, armed men surrounded their home.

As a state of emergency was declared in Dili, finger-pointing began, with East Timor’s Commander Ruak blaming international forces, which include the Australian-led International Stabilisation Force, for failing to prevent the assassination attempts.

“Given the high number of international forces present in East Timor, in particular within the capital, how is it possible that vehicles transporting armed people have entered the city and executed an approach to the residences of the President … and the Prime Minster without having been detected?” he said.

“There has been a lack of capacity shown by the international forces, who have primary responsibility for the security within East Timor to foresee, react and prevent these events.”

It’s not like fucking Iraq where Australia can get its hands on something in East Timor, it’s a fucking hole, we’re there to help them get back onto their feet, not fucking shove our beliefs and our ‘way of life’ down their throats…

We’ve lost troops in this ‘peace keeping’ mission, so get fucked East Timor… I see now that the Aussie troops are in charge of hunting down the people involved in the raids and assassination attempts… Hey you’ll let us organise that, but bag the living crap out of us for it happening… Look in your own fucking backyard before criticising others dickhead… I swear to god, one more word out of this little pin dick and Australia will wipe East Timor off the fucking map… The fucking cheek of this little turd…

Oh… Hang on… Where was the President Ramos Horta flown to for medical treatment, oh that’s right AUSTRALIA! Need I fucking say more… Oh look, we’re sending 150 more troops over to join the 900 already there, fuck we must be doing such a bad job… Hmm… 900 already there, I demand to know why those 900 were keeping the peace in other parts of East Timor and not protecting the President!!! It’s not like East Timor has its own army…? Oh… Hang on… Taur Matan Ruak, East Timor Army Chief… Nuff said, yea?
